CONCEPT

A gamer oriented digital magazine application which captures a code based design that combines a computer console art style and the idea of a “shared code” within the gamer group.

What does Bitácora (Logbook) mean?

A notebook where ideas, observations, data and progress of a project can be recorded. It can be used for different purposes, such as recording a trip, keeping a research journal, or taking notes.

The name intends to state that navigating this magazine requires deciphering the code and tracking down the progress while discovering the future.

Logo design

Bitácora’s logo main goal is to establish a visually striking code playing with numbers and letter forms. It also borrows the BIT from computing terminology and transfors it in it’s magazine own code: 317 (also the short for Bitácora for this brand).

Inspired by DOS miscellaneous, Matrix cascade effect codes and old Computer Font styles, this design allows a gimmick easily understandable by it’s audience, inviting them to join
in this group’s secretsy.

Transitions and Animations are both focused on providing a “gaming experience feel” to them

Push animation while swiping transition and partitioned screenshots can give the illusion of playing a puzzle game.

Other more complex procedures can turn Transitions into full fleshed animations. By creating a Parallax with assembled screen parts we have got smooth transitions such as the 2D shooter gimmick or more secondary animations such as Tetris pieces falling off.

An intuitive menu makes for a seamless navigation

A collapsible menu is always visible to quickly navigate the application.

The user experience is enhanced with icons and arrows that guide the user through the magazine.

Every piece of media included in every article is cleverly labeled.
